RIO 2016:Gold for Kenya’s Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi after Disqualifications

Kenya’s Olympic team have received a major boost in their medal haul in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as Kyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi who placed second in the women’s 3000m steeplechase has been announced as the new winner of the contest by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

This was after Ruth Jebeth of Bahrain who won Gold was disqualified by the IOC for irregularities moments after the race. The IOC has named the Kenyan as the winner whiles Emma Coburn of the United States and Beatrice Chepkoech of Kenya have also been awarded the Silver and Bronze medals.

The IOC said they would release the full report on the investigations that led to the disqualification later this week.
