28 year old South African caregiver living in Lafayette, Tennessee has won the Powerball jackpot for $421 million with 118.1 million dollar cash payout.
The winning numbers: 17-19-21-37-44; Powerball, 16; Power Play, 2. The Lafayette ticket is also the 200th ticket worth $1 million or more that the Tennessee Lottery has sold.
Another ticket that matched the first five numbers and the Power Play, worth $2 million, was sold in North Carolina for Saturday’s game. Purchasers in Pennsylvania and Minnesota also had $1 million tickets.
The prize ranks 12th among all U.S. lottery prizes and is the ninth largest Powerball prize.
She said she is yet to decide whether to take the grand prize in 30 annual payments that increase over time or in one lump sum, which is always substantially less but will be more than the $243.8 million calculated for what was expected to be a $403 million prize. The jackpot jumped with higher-than-anticipated ticket sales.
This is the second big winner in Tennessee.
The first was a $1.6 billion jackpot that three ticket holders shared Jan. 13. A family in Munford, Tenn., received $528.8 million as its share of the largest lottery jackpot ever.
She is yet to present her ticket.
